A New Way of Being

The mission of Mindful Muscle™ is be a place for exploration and understanding across the spectrum of experience—where it’s set up for serious exertion and the thrill of lifting heavy, AND safe and soothing to be still or silent, and make reps a mindful practice. It’s a space to hold space.

  • This small but might gym is safe, clean, and stocked with premium equipment, including:

    • squat racks with safety arms

    • dip bar, seal row pads, squat rollers

    • barbells, training bars, safety bar and trap bar

    • bumper plates

    • dumbbells and kettlebells

    • slam balls and medicine balls

    • TRX, rings and cable pulley systems

    • bands, cork blocks and pilates balls

    • deep tissue rollers and neck traction device

    • meditation pillows

    • thick yoga mats

    • manual treadmill

    • rower

    The atmosphere is further enhanced with aromatherapy, music, books and plants. 

  • A typical session of Mindfulness-Based Strength Training™ runs 60 minutes, and includes:

    • 5-10 minutes on a yoga mat or meditation pillow practising stillness, breath work and awareness

    • 10-20 minutes on joint mobility training to improve range of motion and strength

    • 35-45 minutes of weight-lifting, and balance, power or endurance drills

    MBST™ draws on many modalities to augment conventional strength training including: Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction to practice placing and moving our attention, and making choices about how to engage with moment-to-moment experiences rather than operating on autopilot; Functional Range Conditioning to improve strength and range of motion within the joint capsule on a neuro-adaptive level; and pelvic floor fitness to enhance the breath-body connection, core stability, postural and behavioural habits.
